Who is the North Carolina State Defense Force (NCSDF / SDFNC)?
Someone like you. During times of trouble for NC, it will take all of us working together to restore our state. Whether you’re great with numbers, tech, are a business manager or a member of swat in your county, NC is counting on your help. No North Carolina citizen should be left out, if they are willing to give some time. We have a need and a place for you.
What is the NCSDF about?
We are the first and last line of defense for NC. In either natural or manmade disasters, we are a force multiplier for the brave North Carolinians that make up the NC Emergency Management system as well as our state’s awesome National Guard and Air National Guard. We are the good neighbors that want to pitch in and do our part to keep NC strong and ready as a matter of national defense for a strong America.
What are the qualifications to join?
Every North Carolina citizen who treats their neighbor the way they themselves want to be treated, with a desire to contribute whatever skills that they are called to serve NC with. If you live in NC with a sense of community, this would be you! We need an “all hands on deck” approach to truly be self-sustaining.

Why does North Carolina need a state defense force?
North Carolina has always proudly defended our great state and communities since the Revolutionary war. While our outstanding National Guard may be deployed on federal missions, a State Defense Force of North Carolinians guarantees that highly trained and equipped neighbors of yours are always here – ready to improve responses to hurricanes, wildfires, search and rescue needs or any emergency, natural or manmade, which affects our families and neighbors. It’s the age old wisdom of neighbors helping neighbors before, during and after need. We have the tools and the talent right here to keep NC self-reliant to make a strong America!
How does NCSDF work?
With the commitment to build partnerships with the North Carolina Dept of Public Safety as well as numerous NC volunteer organizations, non-profits and NC businesses working together with NC citizens to keep our state ready for disasters and assembling a trained and efficient prevention, protection, mitigation, first response and recovery. Teamwork makes the dream work.
